| I'm often asked how to best care for leathers. There are a few simple
steps to keeping your leathers in top condition. |
* Buy
the best equipment you can afford. This will not only protect
you in the event of a crash, but can lead to lower maintenance
cost as well
* Inspect your leathers after each crash, as well as after each race weekend.
Remember to check the zippers for proper function. Small repairs
of rips or open seams might seem insignificant, but they can turn
into major problems resulting in injury. Have repairs taken care
of ASAP.
* Spot clean your leathers when necessary, and apply a leather conditioner
to keep the leather supple.
* Have your leathers cleaned at least once a year, more often if you
race or ride frequently. Ask for “leather cleaning process” at
you local dry cleaner.
* If you have a removable liner, wash it either by hand or in the
washer, line dry. |
| Your
leathers are the first line of defense between you and the pavement
in the event of a crash. Keeping them in good shape will help
them do the job you expect them to do. |
