Leather care
I'm often asked how to best care for leathers. There are a few simple steps to keeping your leather in top condition.
- Buy the best equipment you can afford. This will not only protect you in event of a crash, but can lead to lower maintenance costs as well.
- Inspect your leathers and gear after each crash, as well as after each race weekend. Remember to check the zippers for proper function. Small repairs of rips or open seams might seem insignificant, but they can turn into major problems resulting in injury. Have repairs taken care of ASAP.
- Spot clean your leathers when necessary, also apply a leather conditioner to keep the leather supple.
- Have your leathers cleaned at least once per season, more often if you ride frequently.
- If you have a removable liner, wash it regularly, either by hand or in the machine, and line dry.
